Eurocard is a major European payment card brand originally launched in 1964 by Erik Wallenberg. It was created as a European alternative to American charge cards like American Express and Diners Club. Over the decades, it became a cornerstone of the European financial landscape through the Eurocard International organization.
In 2002, Eurocard International merged with Europay International, which subsequently merged with Mastercard. Today, Eurocard is a premium brand primarily issued in the Nordic region. Its manufacturing and issuance are managed by various licensed banks and financial institutions across Europe. In the Nordic markets, the brand is operated by SEB Kort, a subsidiary of the Swedish banking group Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB.
