Originally founded as Hiperdino in the 1980s by the brothers Domínguez, the brand went through several ownership changes, including acquisition by the multinational group Ahold and later the Permira investment fund. However, in 2012, a group of Canarian entrepreneurs led by the original founders successfully bought the company back, returning it to local ownership.
