Brand Narrative and Origin

PUBG Mobile is the official mobile adaptation of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the pioneering title that popularized the battle royale genre. The original creative vision was conceptualized by Brendan Greene, an Irish developer, in collaboration with the South Korean game company Bluehole (now Krafton). While the PC original had its roots in South Korea, the mobile version was specifically developed under a licensing agreement by the Chinese technology giant Tencent Games.

Manufacturing and Development

The software development and technical maintenance of the game are primarily handled by LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, which is a division of Tencent Games based in Shenzhen, China. Because it is a digital product, it is distributed globally through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, though certain regions have localized versions (such as Game for Peace in China or Battlegrounds Mobile India in India) to comply with local regulations and cultural standards.

Ownership and Corporate Structure

The brand exists within a complex partnership. Krafton, headquartered in South Korea, remains the intellectual property owner of the PUBG universe. However, Tencent Holdings, the world’s largest video game company based in China, manages the global publishing and development of the mobile version. This multinational collaboration has made PUBG Mobile one of the most successful and highest-grossing mobile applications in history.
