Umbro is a classic British sportswear brand founded in 1924 by Harold Humphreys and his brother Wallace in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Historically, Umbro became synonymous with English football, famously providing the kits for the England national team during their 1966 World Cup victory. The brand is well-known for its 'double diamond' logo and iconic footwear models like the Speciali.
While the brand originated in the UK, its manufacturing is now globalized. Most Umbro products are manufactured in countries across Asia, including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia, to leverage specialized textile and footwear production facilities. Ownership of the brand has shifted significantly over the years; it was acquired by Nike in 2007 but later sold to Iconix Brand Group in 2012. Today, Iconix manages the brand's global intellectual property while licensing regional operations to various partners worldwide.
