The brand was originally developed by the Romanian company S.C. Bergenbier S.A. in the city of Ploiești. Over several decades, the ownership transitioned through major international brewing groups. Following the acquisition of StarBev by Molson Coors in 2012, Bergenbier became part of the Molson Coors Beverage Company portfolio. Today, it remains a domestic leader in the Romanian market, primarily produced at the brewery in Ploiești to ensure local distribution and freshness.
