Reebok is a global fitness and lifestyle brand that has evolved significantly since its inception. Originally founded in England in 1958 as a companion company to J.W. Foster and Sons, the brand was named after the 'rhebok', a type of African antelope. Over the decades, it rose to international prominence, particularly during the aerobics craze of the 1980s, which solidified its position as a major competitor in the footwear and apparel industry.
In 2005, the brand was acquired by Adidas, where it remained a subsidiary for over fifteen years. However, in 2021, Adidas reached an agreement to sell the brand to the US-based Authentic Brands Group (ABG). As of 2022 and moving into the future, ABG serves as the ultimate owner, focusing on expanding the brand through licensing and distribution partnerships. Manufacturing for Reebok products is distributed across a global supply chain, primarily concentrated in various Asian countries to support its worldwide market presence.
