Swedish Match Solstickan Matches

Solstickan is one of Sweden's most iconic and well-recognized brands, originally founded in 1936. The brand's primary purpose was to support children and the elderly through the Solstickan Foundation, a mission that continues today. The matches are synonymous with Swedish household safety and historical heritage.

Today, the brand's matchsticks are produced by Swedish Match, a company with deep roots in the Swedish tobacco and safety match industry. While the parent company has undergone several organizational changes over the decades, the manufacturing for Solstickan matches remains heavily centralized in Sweden, specifically at the historic Vulkans match factory in Tidaholm.

In late 2022, Swedish Match was acquired by Philip Morris International (PMI). Despite this acquisition by a global tobacco giant headquartered in the United States, Solstickan maintains its distinct Swedish identity and continues its charitable contributions through match sales within the Nordic market.
