The brand was established in 2010 by Ahmed, Mohamed, and Ayman Auf, who founded AUF Group to modernize the traditional nuts and seeds market in the Middle East. Sahara Delights are chocolate-coated stuffed dates, a signature product reflecting regional culinary traditions.

In 2022, Agthia Group, based in the United Arab Emirates, acquired a majority stake in AUF Group. This acquisition integrated Abu Auf into a larger regional portfolio of food and beverage brands. Despite the change in ownership, manufacturing remains primarily centered in Egypt, leveraging the local supply chain for dates and nuts to ensure quality and authenticity for global distribution.
