Saab Defence and Security Systems

Saab AB is a premier Swedish aerospace and defense company originally established in 1937 to provide the Swedish Air Force with domestic military aircraft. Over the decades, the brand has evolved into a global leader in high-tech defense systems, most famously known for the Gripen multirole fighter jet.

While the brand name was shared with the automotive division (Saab Automobile) for many years, the defense entity remained separate following General Motors' acquisition of the car division in the late 20th century. Today, Saab operates as a standalone defense giant with a significant manufacturing footprint in Sweden and strategic industrial operations globally, including the United States, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

The company is majority-owned by the Investor AB group, which is controlled by the influential Wallenberg family of Sweden. Under this long-term ownership, Saab continues to pioneer advancements in underwater systems, radar technology, and airborne early warning systems.
