Merrild is a classic Danish coffee brand founded in 1964 by Møller H. Merrild in Fredericia, Denmark. Originally starting as a small local roastery, it became a staple in Danish households known for its balanced blends.

Over the decades, ownership of the brand has changed hands within the global beverage industry. After being part of the Sara Lee Corporation for many years, Merrild was acquired by the Italian coffee giant Lavazza Group in 2015. Today, while the brand remains deeply rooted in its Danish heritage and market, its production and roasting may occur across various European facilities operated by Lavazza to meet international demand. The ultimate owner, Luigi Lavazza S.p.A., is headquartered in Italy and manages Merrild as a key brand for the Scandinavian market.
