Milka is a brand of chocolate confection that originated in Switzerland in 1901 and has been manufactured primarily in Austria for over 100 years. The brand is famously associated with its purple packaging and the 'Milka cow', emphasizing its use of Alpine milk.
Originally created by the Suchard company, Milka has undergone several corporate ownership changes. Following the merger of Suchard with Jacobs in 1982, it became part of Jacobs Suchard, which was then acquired by Philip Morris (later Altria) in 1990. In 2012, its parent company Kraft Foods split into two, placing the Milka brand under the global snacking giant Mondelēz International, which continues to own and manage the brand today.
