CeraVe is a globally recognised dermocosmetic brand, famous for its formulas containing three essential ceramides. The SA Smoothing Cream is specifically designed for dry, rough, and bumpy skin, utilizing salicylic acid for exfoliation alongside urea and hyaluronic acid for hydration.
The brand was originally developed in the United States in 2005 by researchers in collaboration with leading dermatologists. It was initially launched under the pharmaceutical company Valeant Pharmaceuticals. The core innovation of the brand is the MultiVesicular Emulsion (MVE) technology, which allows for a controlled release of skin-repairing ingredients over a 24-hour period.
In 2017, the global cosmetics giant L'Oréal acquired CeraVe along with several other brands from Valeant for approximately $1.3 billion. Under L'Oréal's stewardship, the brand has expanded its global footprint significantly. While many products for the European market are manufactured in France, the brand maintains production facilities in the United States and other global hubs to support its international distribution network.
