The brand's journey began in 1980 when two brothers in Minnesota, USA, discovered an inline skate in a sporting goods store and realized its potential for off-season hockey training. They refined the design and started producing the first Rollerblade skates in their basement.

Today, the brand's high-end performance models, such as the Powerblade series, are often handmade in Italy, a country renowned for high-quality boot making. The technical components like Hydrogen wheels are frequently manufactured in the USA using proprietary urethane formulas, while other components may be sourced globally or manufactured in Vietnam.

Since 2003, Rollerblade has been a prominent part of the Tecnica Group, an Italian powerhouse in the outdoor footwear and equipment industry. This ownership has allowed the brand to integrate advanced carbon fiber technologies and anatomical designs into its professional-grade skating equipment.
