Chipsy is Egypt’s leading potato chip brand, originally established as a local Egyptian company. It gained immense popularity for its variety of flavours specifically tailored to Middle Eastern palates. The 'Forno' sub-line focuses on baked potato chips rather than traditional fried ones, marketed as a healthier alternative with lower fat content.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the brand was acquired by PepsiCo as part of its strategic expansion into the Egyptian market. While Chipsy maintains its unique local brand identity and name in Egypt, it is the equivalent of the global 'Lay's' brand, often sharing similar logo visual cues and production standards under the PepsiCo International umbrella. Today, the product is manufactured in Egyptian facilities using locally sourced potatoes, while benefiting from the global supply chain and quality control of its American parent company.
