Bburago is a well-known name in the world of die-cast model collecting, originally hailing from Burago di Molgora, Italy. Founded in 1974 by Mario Besana, the brand became famous for its high-quality, large-scale (1:18) replicas, such as the Ferrari Testarossa pictured. During the 1980s and 1990s, nearly all Bburago models were manufactured in Italy, making them highly collectible today.
In 2005, following financial difficulties, the brand was acquired by the May Cheong Group (MCG), a Hong Kong-based company that also owns the Maisto brand. Following the acquisition, production was moved to China. Today, the brand continues to produce licensed Ferrari models under the MCG umbrella, though vintage 'Made in Italy' models like the one in this image are specifically prized for their heritage and original European manufacturing origin.
