Holland & Barrett is one of the world’s leading health and wellness retailers and the largest of its kind in Europe. Founded in 1870 by Alfred Slapps Barrett and Major William Holland, the brand began as a grocery store in Bishop's Stortford, England, before evolving into a specialist in vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

Over the decades, the company has expanded its footprint significantly, transitioning through various ownership structures. In 2017, the brand was acquired by L1 Retail, an investment arm of LetterOne, which has continued to modernize the business and its digital presence. While originally a traditional brick-and-mortar retailer, it now operates an extensive e-commerce platform alongside its thousands of retail locations globally.

Most of the brand's self-labeled vitamins and health products are manufactured in the United Kingdom, specifically at their facilities in Burton upon Trent. However, due to its vast international supply chain and diverse product range—which includes everything from Manuka honey to sports nutrition—components and specific products are sourced and manufactured across multiple countries depending on ingredient availability and specialized production requirements.
