Albo is one of Spain's most historic and prestigious seafood canning brands, founded in 1869 by Carlos Albo Kay. The brand is deeply rooted in the fishing traditions of northern Spain, particularly in Cantabria and Galicia. For over a century, it remained a family-owned enterprise known for its high-quality canned products, including sardines, tuna, and squid, predominantly processed in its Galician facilities (Vigo and Celeiro).
In 2016, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired by the Chinese industrial group Shanghai Kaichuang Marine International. This acquisition allowed the brand to expand its reach while maintaining its traditional manufacturing processes in Spain. Today, Albo continues to be a staple in the Spanish market, combining 19th-century expertise with the global distribution capabilities of its international owners.
