Brooklyn Brewery Bel Air Sour is a breezy, tropical dry-hopped sour ale known for its tart edge and citrusy finish. Originally conceived in the quintessential craft beer hub of Brooklyn, New York, the brand has grown from a local microbrewery into a globally recognized name in the craft beer industry.
While the brand was founded and remains headquarted in the United States, its manufacturing is now global to meet international demand efficiently. In the UK and parts of Europe, many Brooklyn Brewery products are brewed under license or joint venture agreements, specifically through partnerships with Carlsberg Group. This allow the beer to be produced closer to its intended market, ensuring freshness and reducing the carbon footprint of transport.
Ownership of the Brooklyn Brewery is a mix of independent and corporate interests. While the brewery remains independently operated, the Kirin Holdings Company of Japan acquired a minority 24.5% stake in the company in 2016 to facilitate expansion. In the United Kingdom, distribution and production rights are managed by Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company.
