Milka is one of the world's most recognizable chocolate brands, famous for its lilac packaging and 'Lila' the Alpine cow. The brand was originally created in Switzerland in 1901 by Philippe Suchard, whose confectionery business had been expanding across Europe. The name Milka is a portmanteau of the German words for milk and cocoa (Milch and Kakao).

Over the decades, ownership of the brand shifted through several corporate mergers, moving from Suchard to Interfood, then to Jacobs Suchard, which was eventually acquired by Philip Morris. Today, Milka is part of the snack food giant Mondelez International. While the brand is rooted in Swiss heritage and heavily utilizes its Alpine image, the production of Milka pralines and chocolate bars takes place across various European facilities, primarily in Germany, Austria, and Poland.
