Hill Biscuits is a traditional British biscuit manufacturer with a rich heritage dating back to the mid-19th century. Founded in 1855 by John and Sarah Hill in a small shop in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, the company has since grown into one of the UK’s most recognizable value-driven biscuit brands. The brand is well-known for producing classic British varieties such as Bourbon Creams, Custard Creams, Digestives, and Malted Milk biscuits.
While the company has seen changes in ownership over the decades, it has maintained its operations primarily at its historic site in the United Kingdom. In recent years, the business has undergone significant corporate structural changes to secure its future. In 2017, the company was acquired by LDC (Lloyds Development Capital), the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, following a management buyout. However, in early 2024, the brand entered a new chapter when it was acquired by Cerealto, a large international food manufacturer focusing on the biscuit, cereal, and pasta categories. This acquisition was aimed at leveraging Cerealto's global scale to modernise Hill Biscuits' production capabilities while maintaining its heritage as a staple of the British pantry.
