Silver Spoons is a classic American television sitcom that originally aired from 1982 to 1987. The show follows the life of Ricky Stratton, played by Ricky Schroder, a young boy who moves in with his wealthy and eccentric father, Edward Stratton III. The series is well-remembered for its iconic elements, such as the indoor ride-on train and the exploration of the father-son dynamic as Edward learns to grow up while Ricky finds his childhood.
Originally created by Martin Cohan, Howard Leeds, and Ben Starr, the series was a hallmark of NBC's comedy lineup before moving into first-run syndication for its final season. Production was initially handled by Embassy Television. Over several decades, through various corporate mergers and acquisitions involving the legacies of Norman Lear and Jerry Perenchio, the rights to the series transitioned to major media conglomerates.
Today, the brand and its intellectual property are owned by Sony Pictures Television, a subsidiary of the Japanese multinational Sony Group Corporation. The show remains a staple of nostalgia television, frequently appearing on digital subchannels and streaming platforms like Tubi and The Roku Channel.
