While AMC was famously acquired by the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group in 2012, the ownership structure shifted significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2021, Wanda Group sold the majority of its stake, and AMC is now a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. The company is primarily owned by institutional and retail investors, with its corporate headquarters remaining in Leawood, Kansas.
