Hemmer is a heritage Brazilian brand with a history dating back to 1915, founded by German immigrant Ricardo Hemmer in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. The company initially gained fame for its sauerkraut and preserved vegetables, eventually expanding into a wide range of condiments including mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise.
In 2021, a major shift in ownership occurred when the American multinational Kraft Heinz announced the acquisition of Hemmer. The deal, completed in 2022, aimed to expand Kraft Heinz's presence in the emerging Brazilian market by leveraging Hemmer's established distribution network and local production capabilities. Today, while Hemmer remains a distinct brand with deep roots in Santa Catarina, it is managed as part of the broader Kraft Heinz global portfolio.
