Parodontax is a specialized toothpaste brand known for its commitment to gum health. The brand was originally developed in Germany by a dentist, Dr. Focke, in 1937. It was historically associated with Madaus and later became part of the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) consumer health portfolio. The product is famous for its unique pink color and salty taste, which stems from its high mineral salt (sodium bicarbonate) content, designed to physically remove bacterial plaque.
In recent years, the brand transitioned under the ownership of Haleon, a major independent consumer healthcare company formed through the demerger of GSK's consumer health unit. While Parodontax is sold throughout the world, manufacturing for the European market is largely centralized in specialized facilities, such as the major production hub in Levice, Slovakia, which services dozens of international markets. The brand remains a market leader in the gingivitis prevention category.
