Schweppes is a pioneering soft drink brand with a rich history dating back to 1783, when German-Swiss watchmaker Johann Jacob Schweppe founded the company in Geneva. Initially focused on manufactured carbonated mineral water, the brand later moved its headquarters to London in 1792. Over centuries, it expanded its portfolio with iconic innovations like Indian Tonic Water (1870).

Today, Schweppes operates under a unique and fragmented global ownership structure. In the Netherlands and Belgium (Benelux), as well as much of Western Europe, the brand is owned by the Suntory Group through its subsidiary, Suntory Beverage and Food Europe. This ownership follows the 2009 acquisition of Orangina Schweppes. In other regions, rights belong to different entities: Keurig Dr Pepper in North America, The Coca-Cola Company in the UK and various other international markets, and Asahi Group in Australia. Manufacturing is typically localized within these regions to serve regional markets effectively.
