Mönchshof is a traditional German beer brand rooted in the brewing heritage of Kulmbach, Bavaria. The brand specializes in traditional brewing methods and is most famous for its 'Bügelverschluss' (swing-top) bottles. The 'Naturtrüb's Alkoholfrei' shown is a naturally cloudy, non-alcoholic beer brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot).
The brand's history dates back to the Cistercian monastery in Kulmbach. Today, it is part of the Kulmbacher Brauerei AG. Interestingly, the majority ownership resides with the Brau Holding International, which is a joint venture between the German Schörghuber Corporate Group and the Dutch brewing giant Heineken. The beer continues to be brewed locally in Kulmbach, maintaining its Upper Franconian identity.
