Plantation Rum, which is currently undergoing a global rebranding to 'Planteray', is a distinctive brand known for its double-aging process. Founded by Alexandre Gabriel, the product is initially distilled and aged in Barbados (West Indies Rum Distillery) before being transported to the Cognac region of France for further finishing in French oak casks.

The brand is owned by Maison Ferrand, a celebrated French spirits producer founded in 1989. This dual heritage combines the rich, tropical terroir of the Caribbean with the refined maturation expertise of the French Cognac tradition. The Grande Réserve specifically refers to a blend of various rums from Barbados, aged both in the Caribbean and in France.
