Longrow is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky produced at the legendary Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. First distilled in 1973 as an experiment to prove that a Broad Islay-style peated whisky could be produced on the mainland, it has since become a core part of the distillery's portfolio. The brand is unique in the Scotch industry because the entire production process—from malting the barley on traditional floor maltings to bottling the final liquid—takes place entirely on-site at the distillery.
The brand is owned by J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd, one of the few remaining family-owned distilleries in Scotland. The company has maintained its independence since its founding in the 19th century, resisting the global trend of consolidation within the spirits industry. This independence allows them to maintain traditional, labor-intensive production methods that many larger corporations have abandoned for the sake of efficiency.
