Snickers and Mars are two of the world’s most recognizable chocolate bars. Snickers was introduced by Mars, Inc. in 1930 and was named after the favorite horse of the Mars family. The Mars bar followed in 1932, created by Forrest Mars Sr. in Slough, England, as a maltier version of the American Milky Way bar.
Both brands are wholly owned by Mars, Incorporated, a massive American multinational family-owned business. While the brands have roots in the United States and the United Kingdom respectively, they are now produced globally in numerous factories across North America, Europe, and Asia to meet regional demand. Mars, Inc. remains one of the largest private food companies in the world, maintaining its headquarters in McLean, Virginia.
