The Interlace is a striking residential complex located in Singapore, renowned for its radical departure from traditional vertical tower design. Designed by Ole Scheeren and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), the development consists of 31 apartment blocks, each six stories tall and 70 meters long, stacked in a hexagonal arrangement to form eight large open and permeable courtyards.
Completed in 2013, the project was developed by a consortium led by CapitaLand. It represents a significant landmark in contemporary architecture, winning the World Building of the Year award at the 2015 World Architecture Festival. Its structure integrates living spaces with communal green areas, effectively creating a vertical village that maximizes natural light, ventilation, and social connectivity within the urban landscape of Singapore.
