Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based industry, originally established in Belgium in 1980 by the Vandemoortele Group. The brand focused on soya-based alternatives to dairy, rapidly becoming a market leader in Europe. While its roots are firmly Belgian, the manufacturing process now spans across multiple European locations to meet high demand, with key facilities located in Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom.
In 2017, the brand became part of the Danone family following Danone's acquisition of WhiteWave Foods. This transition placed Alpro under the umbrella of one of the world's largest food and beverage multinationals. Today, Alpro continues to innovate in the dairy-alternative space, offering a wide range of products including milks, yogurts, and desserts like this soya-based vanilla custard, all produced under the strategic direction of Danone's global headquarters in France.
