Maybelline New York is a globally recognized American cosmetics brand that was founded in Chicago in 1915 by Thomas Lyle Williams. The brand was inspired by his sister Mabel, who applied a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her lashes. Maybelline quickly grew from a small mail-order business to one of the most prominent names in the beauty industry, eventually moving its headquarters to New York City.
In 1996, the brand was acquired by the French cosmetics giant L'Oréal. Today, Maybelline serves as a key brand within L'Oréal's Consumer Products division. Its products, including the popular SuperStay and Color Sensational lipstick lines, are manufactured across multiple countries, including the United States, France, and China, to support its massive international distribution network.
