Garofalo is a historic Italian pasta brand hailing from Gragnano, a town near Naples renowned as the birthplace of dried pasta. Founded officially in 1789 when Michele Garofalo obtained a royal license for pasta production, the company has grown into a global leader in the premium pasta segment. The brand is celebrated for its 'Pasta di Gragnano IGP' certification, which guarantees that the product is made using traditional methods, high-quality durum wheat semolina, and local spring water, then extruded through bronze dies for a characteristic rough texture that holds sauce perfectly.
In 2014, the Spanish multinational Ebro Foods acquired a 52% majority stake in the company, though the Garofalo family remains involved in the management and ownership. Today, Garofalo continues to produce its pasta in the historical Gragnano district in Italy, ensuring the heritage and quality standards of the Mediterranean diet are preserved while benefiting from Ebro Foods' extensive global distribution network.
