Swish Mobile Payment

Swish is a dominant mobile payment system in Sweden, launched in 2012 as a collaborative project between the country's major banks. Originally designed for peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers, it has since expanded into e-commerce (m-commerce) and physical retail payments. The service is integrated directly with the user's bank account and uses the mobile phone number as an alias for the account, while security is facilitated through the Mobile BankID system.

The technical infrastructure and branding of Swish are managed by Getswish AB. The brand is deeply integrated into Swedish daily life and is considered a national standard for digital transactions. Since it is a digital service, its 'manufacturing' or development occurs entirely within Sweden through local engineering teams and the participating partner banks.
