Trekpleister is a prominent Dutch drugstore chain that has been a staple of the Netherlands' retail landscape since its founding in 1980. Originally established as a discount health and beauty retailer, it quickly grew into one of the country's most recognizable neighborhood drugstores, focusing on providing value prices for personal care products, over-the-counter medications, and household essentials.
In 1998, the brand was acquired by Kruidvat, another major Dutch pharmacy chain. Shortly thereafter, the entire Kruidvat Group was purchased by the A.S. Watson Group in 2002. Since then, Trekpleister has operated as a key subsidiary of A.S. Watson, benefiting from a massive global supply chain. While the brand is strictly Dutch in its consumer-facing identity, its products are manufactured in various locations globally, often sharing private-label production lines with its sister company, Kruidvat.
Today, the brand is owned by the Hong Kong-based multinational CK Hutchison Holdings. Under the stewardship of A.S. Watson, Trekpleister continues to operate over 200 stores across the Netherlands, maintaining a strong emphasis on community service and expert health advice through its licensed pharmacists.
