Knorr is one of the world's most recognizable food brands, founded in 1838 by Carl Heinrich Knorr in Heilbronn, Germany. The brand initially experimented with drying vegetables and seasonings to preserve nutrients and flavor, leading to the launch of the first Knorr dried soups in 1873.
Today, Knorr is a cornerstone of the Unilever portfolio. While the brand has deep German roots, its products are manufactured in numerous facilities worldwide to serve different regional markets. For the German-speaking market, production often occurs in Europe, notably at sites in Germany and Switzerland. The brand transitioned from a family-owned enterprise to a major corporate asset when it was acquired by Best Foods in the 20th century, which was subsequently acquired by Unilever in 2000.
