Don Julio Añejo Tequila

Don Julio is a premium brand of tequila founded by Don Julio González in 1942. The brand is renowned for pioneering luxury tequila by changing agricultural and production methods, such as planting agave plants further apart to allow them to reach full maturity and using shorter, squatter bottles that allowed guests at a table to see one another.

The product is exclusively manufactured in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, at the 'La Primavera' distillery (NOM 1449). This specific Añejo variety is aged for a minimum of 18 months in American white-oak barrels, which contributes to its distinct flavor profile.

Starting in the late 1990s and early 2000s, ownership shifted through various partnerships. Today, Don Julio is a leading brand in the portfolio of Diageo, a British multinational alcoholic beverages company. Diageo acquired full ownership of the brand in 2015 via a swap deal with Casa Cuervo, solidifying Don Julio's position as a flagship global luxury spirit.
