Haribo is one of the world's most iconic sweet brands, famously known for creating the original gummy bear. Founded in 1920 by Hans Riegel in Bonn, Germany, the brand name is actually an acronym for Hans Riegel Bonn. The 'Goldbears' product became its flagship offering, evolving into a global phenomenon synonymous with high-quality fruit snacks and chewy candies.
While the brand is deeply rooted in German tradition, production has expanded significantly to meet international demand. Haribo operates multiple manufacturing plants across Europe, including Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Turkey, as well as a large-scale facility in the United States. To this day, the company remains family-owned, managed by the Riegel family through Haribo Holding GmbH & Co. KG. This independence has allowed the brand to maintain its distinct visual identity and recipe standards for over a century.
