Viking Gylltur Beer

Viking Gylltur is a classic Icelandic lager, widely recognized as one of the most popular beers in Iceland. The brand's history dates back to 1939, when it was established shortly after the partial repeal of prohibition in the country. It is brewed by Vífilfell (now operating as Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson), which holds a significant place in the Icelandic beverage market.

Originally created by the Viking Brewery in Akureyri, the brand became a staple of Icelandic culture. Today, while it retains its strong national identity and unique Icelandic spring water base, the brewery is part of a larger corporate structure. Following a significant merger, the brand is now under the ownership of Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson, a major beverage distributor and producer headquartered in Reykjavík. The beer continues to be produced primarily in Iceland to maintain its traditional quality and heritage.
