Behring traces its origins back to the pioneering work of Emil von Behring, the first Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine, who founded the company in Marburg, Germany, in 1904. Originally named Behringwerke, the company became a global leader in immunology and diagnostics. Throughout the late 20th century, the brand underwent significant corporate restructuring.
In the 1990s, Behring Diagnostics was formed after mergers involving Hoechst AG and Dade International. This lineage eventually became part of the Siemens health technology portfolio. Today, the legacy of Behring is maintained under Siemens Healthineers, which continues to manufacture and distribute advanced laboratory testing systems and diagnostic reagents across various global facilities in Europe, Asia, and North America.
