Lipton is one of the world's most recognizable tea brands, originally founded in Scotland by Sir Thomas Lipton in the late 19th century. The brand became famous for its innovative use of tea bags and its commitment to making quality tea accessible to the masses.

Historically part of the Unilever portfolio for several decades, the majority of the Lipton tea business (excluding operations in India and Indonesia) was sold in 2022 to CVC Capital Partners. The business now operates under the corporate name ekaterra, which has since been rebranded as LIPTON Teas and Infusions.

While the brand has its roots in the United Kingdom, manufacturing occurs in numerous locations worldwide to serve different markets. Common production hubs include the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and Poland, with tea leaves sourced from various global plantations, including those in Kenya.
