The brand was originally developed by Campina, a historic Dutch dairy cooperative. Following a major merger in 2008 between Friesland Foods and Campina, the brand came under the management of FrieslandCampina. To this day, the majority of its manufacturing takes place within the Netherlands, utilizing milk sourced from the cooperative's extensive network of member dairy farmers across Northern Europe. Ownership remains with the Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. cooperative, making it one of the largest and most influential dairy companies in the world.
