Redmi is a sub-brand owned by the Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi. Originally launched as a line of budget-friendly smartphones in 2013, it was spun off into its own sub-brand in 2019 to focus on the entry-level and mid-range consumer electronics market. The brand's product lineup has expanded significantly beyond smartphones to include laptops, tablets, smartwatches, and various mobile accessories such as the power bank shown in the image.
While Xiaomi is headquartered in Beijing, China, its manufacturing strategy is global. Most Redmi products are manufactured in China; however, to cater to large regional markets and comply with local regulations, the company operates significant production facilities in other countries, most notably India and Vietnam. This 'local for local' approach allows the brand to maintain its competitive pricing and supply chain efficiency.
Xiaomi Corporation, the ultimate owner, was founded by Lei Jun and several partners in 2010. It has since grown into one of the world's largest technology manufacturers. The brand maintains a strong global presence, operating through various local subsidiaries and official distributors across Europe, Asia, and Latin America to ensure widespread availability of its products.
