Marcilla is one of Spain's most iconic coffee brands, with roots dating back to 1907 when Julián Marcilla opened his first roasting facility in Barcelona. Over more than a century, it has become a staple in Spanish households, known for its traditional roasting methods and the quality of its blends. The brand emphasizes its heritage as 'Maestros Tostadores' (Master Roasters).
While the brand was originally a family-owned Spanish enterprise, it was acquired by Sara Lee in the 1980s. Today, it is part of the extensive portfolio of JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. Most of the coffee destined for the Spanish market is still processed and produced in manufacturing facilities located in the Netherlands and Spain, ensuring the brand maintains its local flavor profile under international corporate ownership.
