The Ordinary Aloe Lipids + Ectoin Microemulsion is a specialized skincare treatment designed to soothe and protect the skin barrier. It features ectoin, a powerful molecule that helps protect skin from environmental stressors, combined with aloe lipids for hydration. The product is housed in the brand's signature glass dropper bottle, reflecting its clinical and minimalist aesthetic.
The Ordinary was founded in 2013 by Brandon Truaxe as part of DECIEM, a company known as 'The Abnormal Beauty Company.' Originally established in Toronto, Canada, the brand disrupted the beauty industry by offering high-quality ingredients at transparent, accessible price points. Today, the products are primarily manufactured and formulated in Canada.
Since its inception, the brand has undergone significant ownership changes. The Estée Lauder Companies first invested in DECIEM in 2017, later becoming the majority owner in 2021. By 2024, Estée Lauder completed its full acquisition, making DECIEM and its flagship brand, The Ordinary, a wholly-owned subsidiary within their global portfolio of prestige beauty brands.
