Founded in 1932 by Jean Mantelet, the company gained fame through the invention of the 'Moulin-Légumes,' a hand-cranked food mill. The brand name itself, a contraction of 'Moulin Express,' was adopted in 1957 following the success of its electric coffee grinders. Throughout the 20th century, Moulinex became a household name globally for its mixers, food processors, and other countertop appliances.

While originally a family-owned French enterprise, the company faced financial difficulties in the late 1990s. In 2001, Moulinex was acquired by Groupe SEB, a French multinational conglomerate. Under Groupe SEB's ownership, Moulinex has been positioned as a key brand for accessible and innovative kitchen solutions. Today, manufacturing is distributed across multiple global locations, including major facilities in France and China, serving a global market with a diverse range of cooking and preparation tools.
