Orangina is a beloved carbonated citrus beverage recognizable by its iconic rounded 'bulby' glass bottle, textured to mimic the skin of an orange. Originally developed by Spanish chemist Dr. Trigo and marketed by French businessman Léon Beton in the 1930s, the brand became a cultural icon in France. The product is unique for containing real citrus pulp and zest, requiring the bottle to be shaken before consumption.
While the brand has a rich French heritage, its ownership has transitioned through several major conglomerates over the decades. Following a significant acquisition in 2009, the brand is now owned by the Japanese company Suntory. Production for the European market remains centered in France via local bottling facilities, maintaining its traditional recipe and presentation for drinkers across the continent.
