Wilko Household and Garden Products

Wilko is a storied British high-street brand that originated as a local hardware store in Leicester in 1930. Founded by James Kemsey Wilkinson, the company grew into a major national retailer known for offering affordable household essentials, kitchenware, garden supplies, and health and beauty products. For decades, it remained a family-owned staple of the UK retail landscape, operating under the 'Wilko' name.

In late 2023, the original company, Wilkinson Hardware Stores Ltd, entered administration due to challenging market conditions. Subsequently, the Wilko brand, intellectual property, and e-commerce platform were acquired by the Range Marketplace Limited. Under this new ownership, the Wilko brand continues to exist primarily as an online retailer and through select branded sections within 'The Range' stores, as well as a small number of new standalone 'Wilko' concept stores.

Manufacturing for Wilko branded products is outsourced to a diverse network of suppliers across the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia. While many plastic and chemical-based cleaning products were historically sourced within the UK to minimize logistics costs, a significant portion of their consumer electronics, textiles, and seasonal garden goods are manufactured in China and other global manufacturing hubs.
