ROM is one of Romania's most iconic confectionery brands, instantly recognizable by its packaging which features the colors of the Romanian national flag. Launched in 1964 by the Bucharest confectionery factory (Bucharest Chocolate Factory), it is best known for its unique combination of dark chocolate and a strong rum-infused filling. The "Cel Dublu" variant identifies it as the double-sized portion of the classic bar.

Global Ownership and Production

The brand has undergone significant transitions since the post-communist era. Originally a state-owned enterprise, the manufacturing facilities were eventually taken over by Kandia Dulce. Today, Kandia Dulce is part of the Julius Meinl Living Group, having been acquired from international conglomerates to remain a dominant player in the Romanian sweets market. Production remains centered in its home country, where it maintains a nostalgic yet modern presence through award-winning marketing campaigns.
