SCOTT Sports is a global leader in high-performance sports equipment, particularly known for its lightweight and innovative bicycle designs. The brand was originally established in the United States in 1958 when Ed Scott revolutionized skiing by inventing the first tapered aluminum ski pole. This spirit of innovation eventually transitioned into the cycling world, where the brand gained international acclaim for being the first to introduce aerodynamic handlebars.
Today, while the brand remains deeply rooted in its Swiss headquarters for design and engineering, the manufacturing of its bicycle frames and components is primarily concentrated in Taiwan, a global hub for high-end carbon fiber production. SCOTT bicycles are used by professional athletes and enthusiasts worldwide, ranging from the Addict road racing series to the Scale mountain bike lines.
In 2015, the South Korean company Youngone Corporation became the majority and ultimate owner of SCOTT Sports SA. This acquisition combined SCOTT’s premium design capabilities with Youngone’s vast manufacturing and distribution network, ensuring the brand’s continued growth in the global outdoor and cycling markets.
